Rizal, like most of us, also experienced being bullied
when he was a kid. On his first day of school in Biñan, while having a
conversation with his teacher, Maestro Justiniano Cruz, the latter’s son,
Pedro, insulted Jose and made fun of him in the presence of many children.
Being angry at this bully for making fun of him, he
challenged Pedro to a fight. The
latter accepted, thinking that he could easily beat Jose who was too small for
his age.
The two boys brawl wrathfully inside the classroom. Having
learned the art of wrestling from his Tio Manuel, Jose defeated the bully,
making him popular among his classmates.
Another boy named Andres Salandanan challenged him to an
arm-wrestling match. Unfortunately, Jose lose the fight since he had a weaker
arm.
Since then, Jose had other fights with boys of Biñan as
he prove himself to be a laudable opponent.
It could be said that Jose Rizal's childhood is advanced
than anyone's even those in different generations of his. However, just the
normal story of a hero or a main cast, he also had naive side and normal
gestures that can attest that he is just also a human being. Jose Rizal, being
an exceptional student when he was still a child, induced him many haters. As a
fruit of immaturity, he also accepted many non-sense challenges just to prove
something.
